marimekko quilt

a small, only almost-tiny quilt that I finished last week. as is often the case with my quilting projects, the original idea was different (much smaller, no pleats, more patchworking), but i like it when my ideas are allowed to evolve as I go along.
so here's a small quilt, made from leftover marimekko bed linen fabrics that ended up in my stash. it has three pleats that show the pattern from the back when unfolded, and is wonderfully puffy thanks to the fine percale cotton fabric of the top.
it's fun and just large enough to put over my knees while sitting on the couch.
top: marimekko cotton percale vesi unikko
backing: marimekko unikko cotton sateen
batting: organic cotton 150g
quilting: sulky cotton petites 12
hand sewn and hand quilted
58 x 54 cm
